USCIS issued a bulletin this week with three new naturalization practice tests. Naturalization is the process of becoming a U.S. Citizen. If you are a Lawful Permanent Resident eligible for naturalization, I recommend that you take advantage of these tools to prepare yourself for the naturalization interview. In order to naturalize most applicants will need to take a simple English test and a U.S. civics test. The civics test questions are drawn from a list of 100 questions that are available on the USCIS website. The actual exam will consist of 10 random questions. In order to pass the exam, you must get at least 6 correct. The English language test generally consists of the immigration officer asking you to read one sentence and write one sentence in English. Basic knowledge of English will be necessary in order to understand the officer at the interview. The new USCIS practice activity teaches general commands that an applicant might hear from the immigration officer during the naturalization interview. If you have not yet applied to naturalize, speak to an immigration attorney to find out if you are eligible for naturalization. You can find a link to the USCIS study materials here.
